What happens in our first session?

In our initial session, we'll further explore your reasons for seeking therapy and how I can be of assistance. You don't need to do anything special to prepare for our initial meeting. Simply arrive as you are and begin from where you presently stand. 

It's common to feel the urge to divulge everything about yourself during the first session, but that can be overwhelming.  As time goes on, all of the relevant parts of your story and identity will naturally become part of our work together.

As your therapist, my purpose is to help you delve into every aspect of your identity (even those that have been othered, shamed, or suppressed) and to encourage you in the process of embracing and valuing yourself more completely. You are whole just as you are. Your struggles are a product of what you have been through and are not a statement of your worthiness as a human being. What's most important to me is creating a refuge for you to feel seen, heard, and understood.

    I will send you the pre-intake forms. Upon receiving the completed forms, I will be ready to support you via weekly virtual therapy through HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
